Re: Itunes on Ubuntu 9.10
Hello all. I am a completely new user to Linux and I installed Ubuntu 9.10 on my laptop yesterday. Earlier I followed a guide on this page: http://www.ehow.com/how_5197743_download-itunes-linux-ubuntu.html to install iTunes 7.2 on Ubuntu. I followed the instructions exactly using Wine and the links given but after installation anytime I run the program I get the following error message:
Warning!
The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and
burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of
installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes.
The only option in this window is OK.
After pressing OK iTunes opens fine but makes my task bar at the top of the screen go black and stays black until each location is clicked, e.g. firefox icon.
I would appreciate any help anyone can provide.
Thanks
iTunes CD ripping and burning is NOT supported in WINE... nor is iPod ver3 syncing.
Depending on what you want to do, take a look at either Songbird or Rhythmbox
songbird:
Rhythmbox:
http://projects.gnome.org/rhythmbox/
info:
http://theappleblog.com/2009/07/09/how-to-sync-an-ipod-using-open-source-software/
Both of the above should sync to an ipod or jailbroken iphone, and are available in your package manager.
Ohhh...on the 'info' link, it mentions Amarok... BE AWARE amarok is a KDE application, so if you try to install it in Ubuntu it 'may' break your Ubuntu installation.
