Even more MSN problems.
Bought an Aspire one for my daughter as she is going to Africa and needs to keep in touch.
Have downloaded all the updates via live Update but can't log on to MSN. Don't even get an error message!
Spoke to Acer Tech. Support. They say there's nothing wrong with their software and are blaming my router - a DLink GSL-G624T. I have removed security from the router, but to no avail.
She can't use alternative clients as she wants to do PC to PC voice calls.
HELP PLEASE!
Issue appears solved.
Tried a different router and Messenger now works fine.
I have since heard of other Acer One and EeePC users who couldn't use Messenger via a D Link router.
Beware; not all routers are created equal!
Some routers are in today's market (IMHO) overpriced, mentioning no names (!) , however with cheaper routers there are definitely good and bad brands .. personally I'm a fan of the "Speedtouch", they're cheap at ~ £27 and tend to be pretty reliable and have good firmware that's updates fairly regularly.
MSN :: The Microsoft Network
You'd need an awfully big PC!
If you mean is it possible to access Microsoft Messenger ( ;-) ) from a Linux machine, then yes. Just load up "Pidgin" or "Telepathy" and add your account details, it'll work fine.
If you want audio+video too, take a look at Emesene, although this isn't so common in standard distributions and you might need to download this yourself.
