using external drive with an eepc

Posted by flip tanner at December 09. 2008

I have an eepc (900) with linux

i know there is very little space on it -so it will be used for reviweing drawings and documents and not origionating or editing them.

I pruchased a large portable hard drive - Maxtors Black Armour and have made a copy of my PC on to it so I can be mobile but with access to all my documents.

I didnt realise that the hard drive requires a password - which is good -but I think the programe that runs when the drive is connected (by usb) is for XP only - which is bad

I have looked on Maxtors site and they do not support linux - is that it ? should I give up and install XP on the eepc - I realy wanted to give Linux and the pre installed software that comes on the eepc a chance.

Did I just choose the wrong external drive ? - but I do want at least 160 gig as  i like to have everything at hand

any advice would be greatfully recived.

many thanks
