this 3 g thing again im afraid

Posted by kate nicholl at January 23. 2009

Hi

Ive recently got a 3 mobile dongle and found the advice on how it install it.  However, the first part says to.....

  • Left click on the network manager icon in the top right of the screen and select Manual Configuration, this should let you into the network configuration application.
  • ........and i cant even find this bit!!  i can go to the connection manager but it doesnt come up with the same options as mentioned.

your help would be GREATLY appreciated

Which version of Linux are you running?

The instructions given are for more recent versions the "Gnome" desktop .. first thing to check is that you are running Gnome rather than KDE .. second thing is to check you're on a relatively recent version of Linux.

If you've bought the machine from a supplier, then they ought to be able to provide this kind of support as the issues are likely to be specific to that machine .. I'd be interested to know what sort of machine it is, where you got it from, and whether they have offered any kind of support .. just as a matter of interest ...
