Elonex webbook with linux 8.04

Posted by natalie collins at June 24. 2009

Hi. I am very new to the linux system and have purchased a webbook to take on my travels. It was purchased with a 3G Huawei E169G dongle modem. Up to now there has not been any problems but since up dating the system, which has left 9 updates that can not be installed, I am unable to browse the internet. As I am a complete novice, I believe that it is connecting to 3G but is 'looking for (web site name)' but can not connect. Can anyone help me please . Thanks

After you "think" it has connected, run up a terminal session (Applications->Accessories->Terminal) and type in;

ping -c5 87.102.101.168

And post the results here. Also useful would be the output of;

ifconfig

And;

cat /etc/resolv.conf

Sorry the other commands you have asked for, it wont let me copy and paste the results onto a memory stick so that i can post it on here, and because the report is so long and i have a meeting to go to , i will type it out later .

Many thanks
