Zoom ADSL USB Modem 5510a
I am looking to move one of my clients over to Linux, not sure which distro yet. He has a Zoom ADSL USB Modem which currently connects into his windows-based PC. He then dials out using Windows' built in connection thing rather than a custom dialler.
Has anybody else tried one of these devices with a distro? Is it "more than likely" to work? There's a datasheet for the actual device at the link below. I note that it says it's compatible with Windows and Mac OS only, but maybe it does not say Linux out of ignorance.

Any help you can offer would be grand. Many thanks,
Ian.
Generally speaking (!) it really (really!) isn't cost effective to expect anyone to use a "modem" for serious Internet access over any length of time. (on Windows OR Linux) I know a lot of people do, however I also know a LOT of people have problems.
If you splash out on a router, (est. £25) once you've set it up, in addition to it supplying an Internet feed for all the networked computers at your location, it's unlikely to "go wrong" and indeed it's unlikely that you'll ever need touch it again.
Oh, and it also means the Operating system you use is irrelevant and you can swap from Windows to Mac to Linux without worrying about your Internet connection at all .. it'll "just work".
